Quartfinal 1: Ireland vs Wales

Ireland and Wales will be play one of their most important rugby matches in their history when they face each other at the Wellington Stadium on Saturday morning (07:00 SA time).

It’s the first quarterfinal of the 2011 Rugby World Cup, Ireland have opted for reliability and experience while Wales will count on youth and the element of surprise, it can go either way.

Sharks add bite to Bok squad

So, we're just a fortnight away from the biggest sporting event in the rugby calendar, the Rugby World Cup. The squad has been named, all that is left is for the boys to give their all in the field of play in an attempt to do what no team has ever done, defending a Rugby World Cup title.

Tuesday’s squad announcement was not met with much negativity, in fact, the biggest talking point after the ceremony was the national anthem, but I won’t go into that

The Boks kick off their Tri-Nations campaign this weekend when they take on Australia in Sydney.

Playing the Aussies away is a challenge on its own but the Boks have other factors to worry about ahead of this match.

Adapt or lose

Change may throw us off in the beginning but in the end it’s how we adapt to that change that separates losers from the winners.” Junior Mpisane

 

The new Vodacom Super Rugby format brought a lot of confusion with it but after a while we all had to get used to monitoring three different logs and combining the information to produce one log with the table-toppers and the wild cards. With further expansion expected in the near future I don’t see the competition returning to the old format – the best we can hope for is having mixed groups and less derbies
