Stormers? More like Storm in a Teacup

The Bulls made it 6 wins in a row after avenging their loss to the Stormers in the fifth round of this year's tournament.

With another dominant performance from the Bulls forward pack, especially a complete route of the Stormers' line out, the Bulls have re-asserted themselves as the force of South African Super Rugby that they were 12 months ago.

I have been wondering whether Victor Matfield was truly convinced that the Bulls could win 7 games in a row and I am glad to see that I am the one who doubted it could be done and not the Bulls. The team has fostered such a winning mentality over the last 5 years that a once insurmountable task has looked easy for them in the last few weeks.

With 6 games down and 4 games to go, the task gets harder every week and the mental strain of the so called  'Final' mentality that has required them to win every game for the last 6 weeks must be starting to weigh heavy on the blue clad warriors from Pretoria.

This week the old rival in black and white comes to Loftus with the hopes of making it to a playoff place of their own. The Sharks are as dangerous an opponent as the Stormers were but this week the Bulls have 2 advantages that they didn't have this last weekend.

1. Home field advantage - the Bulls played last weeks game against the Stormers in front of 49000 very hostile fans. At Loftus the crowd will fuel their passion and will help in moments when energy wanes.

2. The Sharks were not convincing at all against the rolling maul last week - this is the Bulls preferred weapon of choice within 10 meters of the line and could be used to great effect this coming weekend.

This weekend will be the toughest test for the Bulls of this whole tournament and I for one think that they're up for it.
