Expect no favours

So it seems like sanity did prevail to a certain extent since my last blog. I see the Cheetahs have signed Naka Drotske for another 3 years. Not that I’m fighting for Naka, but it’s good for continuity and to build on the success we’ve tasted this year.

It was a weird weekend for me, with the boys from Bloem not playing. My GP was relieved because there was no fear of a stroke like the previous few weekends. My wife was also chuffed because my kids’ ears were saved from the standard weekend cursing that can normally be heard from Paternoster.

But boy did I miss those emotions ...

Looking ahead to Saturday, the Stormers had one of their more physical games of the Vodacom Super Rugby campaign  and the bodies must be sore. I do believe the motivation to win will be there this weekend – because there is a lot to play for. And they have Rassie...

Lekker to see the Cheetahs had a good rest while the Stormers boys were  getting pummelled on the field. I see a couple of my boys went hunting – good for them. So with fresh bodies and minds I think they are up for closing out the season on a high and I hope they do. The Stormers should not expect any favours on Saturday, this is dog eat dog business and the we all know how the Cheetahs love eating a bit of big dog.

My biggest concern for this weekend is how glad Rassie Erasmus will be to be acquainted with his old rooftop. We all know what a genius rugby coaching brain this man possesses. He knows what it takes to make the Cheetahs fire, so that also means he knows what it’ll take for them to fire blanks.

I hope my boys bring their A game to the park, but I’m in a Zen space this week and hope the best team wins. As an outsider this past weekend I realised how healthy South African rugby is at the moment. The World Cup fever has arrived and my blood is slowly turning from orange to green. Come now Cheetahs, let’s close this Vodacom Super rugby campaign on a high note and unite behind the local teams still in with a chance.

Around the corner lies the next exiting rugby instalment – we’re not the defending champions for nothing. I’ve started wearing my Bok jersey on Fridays and begun learning the words to Shosholoza! I want to win that trip to the New Zealand that Vodacom are offering! Check it out at m.vodacom.co.za/rugby

I’m just really looking forward to this weekend’s ruggas to see my team in action for the last time this season. One thing is for sure – no favours will be handed out this weekend, expect a run feast to note!

Oh and by the way, Rassie, pasop there on the roof, die Bokke het jou nodig...

My ou mater....yes Naka has signed for three years, but for his own career, he needs tyo start writing the Naka Drotske coaching manual and not try and use the Rassie manual. I believe that if he develops more of his own style, then Rassie won't have the sam effect on the Cheetahs as he does. He is a great rugby mind, but he only needs to outsmart one and that is Naka.

To the weekend I am really nervous that we will be to pumped and do a burnout by running onto the park. The biggest clash will be midfield where the two boks take on twop of most exciting young centers in the game.

Also read in the paper today that Riaan Viljoen might be on the Stormers shopping list. Its time that we get some mopre diamonds out of the big hole to keep Riaan and the boys in the Cheetah district.

Hear you about the green blood, but being a pessimist when it comes to Bok ruggas, I am worried that the coach will be relying to much on the old folk and ignoring the young hungry talent. Hope I am wrong in order for me to shut the mouths of the Kiwis and Ausie blokes at the office.

Will miss these Boots n All sessions about the Boys from Bloem.

Nag ou grote....hier uit Ausieland!
