Behold... The BeardMan!!

Posted on Friday, 3 June 2011 (9:06 am)

Some say... he won’t shave it off until his girlfriend joins him in Jozi... and that Earl Rose is actually trapped somewhere inside it...

All we know is he’s called The BeardMan!!

Josh Strauss, who stands 1,93m tall and weighs in at around 115kg, has given the Lions team a distinct physical edge this season.

He captained the Lions against the Brumbies after an injury to regular skipper Doppies la Grange. The Lions produced one of their best performances of the last two seasons to beat the Brumbies 29-20.

And I say it’s all down to that awesome beard!!

Ok, the beard and a standout performance from Elton Janties and all 22 Lions players.

Two weeks later, the Lions stunned the Highlanders with a 26-22 win in Dunedin. With Strauss scoring a crucialsecond-half try to bring the Lions back in the game.

This weekend Lions take on theHurricanes in Wellington on Saturday (kick-off at 07:30am SA time).

With two victories out of three games, the tour has been a success already, but the Lions will be surely be targeting the struggling Hurricanes side for another win.

The Lions have kept the combination of Elton Jantjies at flyhalf and Butch James at inside centre, with the two likely to swap positions depending on which crazed yellow shirted Cane is running at them.

(Josh Strauss about to charge into Wynand Olivier during the Vodacom Super Rugby match between Lions and Vodacom Bulls at Coca Cola Park on February 19, 2011)

Here’s hoping BeardMan gets stuck in again and swats Nonu all over the place with that awesome facial fury!!
