Where were we?
So the Boks got their Vodacom Tri-nations campaign off to a not-so-flying start on Saturday morning with a match up against the old enemy – The All Blacks – and boy I hope we caught a wake up. A 32 – 12 defeat is never acceptable for our okes in green & gold.
We were outplayed from the first whistle and all us South Africans can do now is try and understand why this was such an uncharacteristic performance from our manne. We were missing tackles galore and at some points seemed like we didn’t really know what we wanted to do with the ball. I can’t think of an excuse for the missed tackles except maybe, and I don’t ever like to say this about the boys, a lack of commitment.
The second point I think was not because of the guys on the field, but the player missing from it. I think this performance really showed how much the Boks miss ol’ Fourie Du Preez when he isn’t playing. That man is a genius with the ball and any team would miss his influence.
And the of course there was the Bakkies head butting incident, I must admit when I saw what he had done I was gobsmacked. That sort of ill discipline can’t be accepted on a sports field and now he has landed himself a 9 week ban. I guess it’s time for Mr. Bekker to step up and show us the form he had in the Super 14.
Let’s hope the boys keep their chins up and put on a much better show in their next game of the Vodacom Tri-Nations.

Will Australia crumble?
After last weeks thrilling victory over the Aussies in the Vodacom Tri-Nations, South Africa notched up their first points of the competition. To me though, the points were not the only thing we took from the Aussies. We took a massive chunk out of their confidence.
Francois Hougaard’s Mullet
Definition: Business up front, party in the back!
There are stories in the Bible about Samson’s hair giving him superhuman strength, well, could our new scrum half be our very own Samson? This is a post about the (in)famous mullet currently making a name for itself on Francois Hougaard’s pip.
Elton, M-PESA, Boerie & my Bokke jock-strap
So we were running low on the boerie supplies, I was running low on cash supplies, Elton was being lazy (as always) so he sends me money from cell phone to cell phone via Vodacom M-PESA (http://bit.ly/dDl33b). Check out the video explaining it all.
Oh and by the way, what do you guys think of our Haka? Pretty cool huh?
Victor Matfield: A living legend!
So we all know that a lot of the hype around tomorrow’s game at Loftus is focused around Victor Matfield earning his 100th cap for the Bokke. He will join only Percy Montgomery and John Smit (he reached his last weekend at FNB stadium) in reaching this milestone for South Africa. What’s his story though? Here is a short piece on the background of Big Vic, a true living legend.
SA's world record attempt on track
South Africa's youngest Guinness World Record attempt, to fly 90 000 South African flags in one venue at one time, is on track thanks to a capacity crowd at the Springbok-All Blacks Tri-Nations clash on 21 August at FNB Stadium in Soweto. The Keep Flying initiative - together with initiator Draftfcb SA; Vodacom; the International Marketing Council of SA; Lead SA; and SuperSport - had lodged the attempt with Guinness World Records. They must now supply photographic proof, which Guinness will audit before making its pronouncement.
