Feel it – The Vodacom Tri Nations is here!

Feel it – Tri Nations is here!

Sjoo, the break between the Vodacom Super 14 and the Vodacom Tri-Nations always feels like it takes forever for us rugby fans. Especially since ‘football’ dingus is all anybody can talk about, an oke has felt a little left out. Time for a real mans sport to grace my brand spanking new flat screen tomorrow with a match up between none other the the All Blacks and our the greatest team in the world – Die Bokke! So back to normal for me as Player 23, and I can’t tell you okes how chuffed I am! Straight to business though.

Ol’ Div named the team to take on our old enemy and I must say, I have a good feeling about this one! The forwards pack includes Guthro, Smitty, Jannie Du Plessis, Bakkies, Big Vic, Schalk, Fancois Louw & of course Pierre Spies! Tell me who wouldn’t be scared of these okes. Our backs for tomorrow are Januarie (Fourie is still unavailable) Morne, Habana, Wynand, Jaque Fourie, Jean De Villiers, and starting at fullback is Zane Kirchner. Checking out this team you know why I have that positive feeling hey!

But apparently, some of the New Zealanders are afraid of our ‘player 24’ the vuvuzela. South African supporters have been warned that their vuvu’s will be banned at the stadium. Sounds like a little bit of fear to me!

Oh, check out this advert I saw on Brendan Jack’s blog the other day, rugby fans will appreciate it! → http://www.brendanjack.com/post/rugby-versus-football-soccer/

Will Australia crumble?

After last weeks thrilling victory over the Aussies in the Vodacom Tri-Nations, South Africa notched up their first points of the competition. To me though, the points were not the only thing we took from the Aussies. We took a massive chunk out of their confidence.

Francois Hougaard’s Mullet

Definition: Business up front, party in the back!

There are stories in the Bible about Samson’s hair giving him superhuman strength, well, could our new scrum half be our very own Samson? This is a post about the (in)famous mullet currently making a name for itself on Francois Hougaard’s pip.

Elton, M-PESA, Boerie & my Bokke jock-strap

So we were running low on the boerie supplies, I was running low on cash supplies, Elton was being lazy (as always) so he sends me money from cell phone to cell phone via Vodacom M-PESA (http://bit.ly/dDl33b). Check out the video explaining it all.

Oh and by the way, what do you guys think of our Haka? Pretty cool huh?

Victor Matfield: A living legend!

So we all know that a lot of the hype around tomorrow’s game at Loftus is focused around Victor Matfield earning his 100th cap for the Bokke. He will join only Percy Montgomery and John Smit (he reached his last weekend at FNB stadium) in reaching this milestone for South Africa. What’s his story though? Here is a short piece on the background of Big Vic, a true living legend.

SA's world record attempt on track

South Africa's youngest Guinness World Record attempt, to fly 90 000 South African flags in one venue at one time, is on track thanks to a capacity crowd at the Springbok-All Blacks Tri-Nations clash on 21 August at FNB Stadium in Soweto. The Keep Flying initiative - together with initiator Draftfcb SA; Vodacom; the International Marketing Council of SA; Lead SA; and SuperSport - had lodged the attempt with Guinness World Records. They must now supply photographic proof, which Guinness will audit before making its pronouncement.
