Defence, discipline and disaster
Sjoo! What can I say? Yet another early yellow and further suspension for one of our Boks, this time Jaque Fourie was the culprit because of a dangerous tackle, after only 2 minutes nogal! We were on the backfoot against the Aussies from the get go again. If that wasn’t enough, another yellow card was dished out again early on in the second half, just for good measure!
It’s a sad day for Jan when the talking points of the weekends Vodacom Tri-Nations match was once again our Boks discipline… or lack thereof. Can it really be that hard for our players to just stick to the laws of the game, or are the refs really gunning for us this time around? Div apparently said the other that he felt there was the chance the refs favoured the Kiwis because the World Cup was to be held in New Zealand next year, but what then is the excuse for the game against the Aussies? Sure the ref wasn’t perfect on Saturday, but come on now boys, we are better than what we showed on the field regardless of the match official.
Our defence on our tour is also an area for concern; in 3 games we conceded 10 tries, which is just not good enough. Can our rugby have fallen apart so quick or could people see this collapse coming? Comfortable Vodacom Tri-Nations winners, as well as series win over the Lions just last year to this? From being untouchable on the field, our Boks seem to be getting exposed way too easily. It’s all a little too confusing for a simple oke like me.
There is a World Cup coming up again next year, in my opinion let’s use the rest of this tournament to get some of our youngsters used to the Bok setup, players like De Jongh, Hougaard, and Aplon ready for next years big cup! Let them play out the remainder of this Vodacom Tri-Nations with a view to next year.
What do you guys think?

Will Australia crumble?
After last weeks thrilling victory over the Aussies in the Vodacom Tri-Nations, South Africa notched up their first points of the competition. To me though, the points were not the only thing we took from the Aussies. We took a massive chunk out of their confidence.
Francois Hougaard’s Mullet
Definition: Business up front, party in the back!
There are stories in the Bible about Samson’s hair giving him superhuman strength, well, could our new scrum half be our very own Samson? This is a post about the (in)famous mullet currently making a name for itself on Francois Hougaard’s pip.
Elton, M-PESA, Boerie & my Bokke jock-strap
So we were running low on the boerie supplies, I was running low on cash supplies, Elton was being lazy (as always) so he sends me money from cell phone to cell phone via Vodacom M-PESA (http://bit.ly/dDl33b). Check out the video explaining it all.
Oh and by the way, what do you guys think of our Haka? Pretty cool huh?
Victor Matfield: A living legend!
So we all know that a lot of the hype around tomorrow’s game at Loftus is focused around Victor Matfield earning his 100th cap for the Bokke. He will join only Percy Montgomery and John Smit (he reached his last weekend at FNB stadium) in reaching this milestone for South Africa. What’s his story though? Here is a short piece on the background of Big Vic, a true living legend.
SA's world record attempt on track
South Africa's youngest Guinness World Record attempt, to fly 90 000 South African flags in one venue at one time, is on track thanks to a capacity crowd at the Springbok-All Blacks Tri-Nations clash on 21 August at FNB Stadium in Soweto. The Keep Flying initiative - together with initiator Draftfcb SA; Vodacom; the International Marketing Council of SA; Lead SA; and SuperSport - had lodged the attempt with Guinness World Records. They must now supply photographic proof, which Guinness will audit before making its pronouncement.
